This guide will provide you with an easy to follow introduction to setting up an Akai MPK mini with Ableton Live. Make sure to connect the MPK mini to a USB port before opening Ableton Live. The example below was performed using Windows XP and Ableton Live Lite Akai Edition, Version 8.1.3.
I have only really needed 2 ins/2 outs for what I do in my home studio. I only record 1 track at a time, so I've been toying around with the idea of omitting my audio interface & just using 2 separate ADC/DAC units with the optical (TOSlink) input/output jacks of my Macbook pro. I have a Benchmark DAC-1, I got the idea because you can just plug the optical straight from your Macbook right into the DAC, no interface required for the monitors, maybe I could do the same thing with the inputs & eliminate a link in the signal chain.I think this would simplify things, no drivers require & achieve great sound quality. Who knows, maybe the latency might be lower as well. Has anyone tried this?
There would be the occasional situation where I might want to send audio out of the computer through hardware FX & record it back again, but I was thinking I could just hook up my Komplete Audio 6 when that rare occasion arises. What do you think?

How To Set Dac To Internal Ableton Machine
Mytek Stereo192DAC / 96ADC how to connect & clock ???
How To Set Dac To Internal Ableton Mac Free
i'm a bit confused ...what is the best choice to connect :
-Mytek Stereo DSD 192-DAC with
-Mytek Stereo 96 ADC
Mytek 192 DAC is running via FW on my Mac.
Firewire has the option 'digital through' S/PDIF Coax,Toslink,AES, so i can connect digital devices like Mytek Stereo 96 ADC to send analog recordings to my Mac/DAW LogicPro
Now i can connect both units via: Coax 75Ohm , AES or Toslink
i believe only the AES-XLR has 'digital-pulse-trafo' seperation/isolation as an electric advantage. It can even better run longer cables.
The next thing is how to use the clock setting on both units. Both have WC in/out
The 192DAC's internal clock is superior (so Mytek said) , even no external atomic clock make an advantage...so Myteks state. But this is for the DAC
In the 192Dac's FW menu i have different options for clock settings.
Or i can clock the 96ADC with BNC cable from the DSD 192 Dac
But is this an advantage ?
What's the best connection ?
cheers
